Local Elections 2026

Local elections on 13 September.

On this day, three elections take place at the same time: the election of the town council representatives, the district council (Kreistag), and the mayor.

On 13 September the polling station in the Dörpshus is open – alternatively you can vote by postal ballot or cast your vote in advance at the town hall.

Rooted in Bahlburg, with an eye on the future.

Born in 1981, raised in Bahlburg, a few years in Hamburg – and back home on the Luhe since 2017. As a self-employed management consultant, I like to think analytically and in a solution-oriented way.

Helping shape the future of Bahlburg and Winsen.

Our region is highly attractive – close to Hamburg and Lüneburg and at the same time still shaped by agriculture. We have smaller businesses and also Amazon on our doorstep. The creativity and dedication of the people here must be supported by smart policy.

Politics thrives on participation. We must make smart decisions on the things we can shape locally. And we carry our wishes for Hanover and Berlin forward to our representatives.

What Bahlburg is talking about.

These are the issues residents of Bahlburg have raised with me so far. I am still collecting.

  • A 30 km/h zone from the village entrance to the Luhe bridge

    At the bend in the priority road, cars already have to slow down. That makes the case for a continuous 30 km/h zone from the village entrance to just beyond the Luhe bridge.

    The village development plan for the Winsener Geest region lists project B6, „Traffic calming and upgrading of Burgstraße“, for Bahlburg. When residents ranked the projects in August 2024, it came first out of six, with 270 votes.

    The plan describes Burgstraße as a district road (K37) running through the whole village and separating the settled areas to north and south. It states that when lorries meet agricultural vehicles, one of them has to pull onto the footway, and that cycling on the road is unsafe because of the speeds and the narrow alignment.

    The measures proposed include street trees at the village entrances, a digital speed display, welcome signs and crossing aids at the Luhe bridge.

  • Safe crossings for children at the roundabout

    Before the roundabout was built, there was a pedestrian light at the Bahlburg crossroads that switched on when needed. It allowed children to get safely from Bahlburg to Pattensen. The light was removed when the roundabout was built; anyone crossing towards Pattensen today has no right of way.

    Children take the bus to school. In the afternoon there is none: anyone going to training at MTV Pattensen, or to see friends, has to cross the roundabout – or be driven.

    The crossing already exists: a raised island with a cut-through for cyclists, 3.50 × 4.00 metres. It simply is not made safe – no lighting, no warning for drivers, no right of way.

    The crossing towards Pattensen has priority. Towards Roydorf there is an alternative route past the fish farm, so that crossing is less urgent.

  • The layout of the circular path around the Lassbruch housing development

    What was promised was a surfaced path in the form of a tree-lined avenue. What was built is an unsurfaced path that turns muddy after rain. The trees were also not planted evenly along the route, and some of them stand in the drainage ditch.

    The village development plan for the Winsener Geest region covers this under project B5, „Bahlburg circular paths“. It proposes a consistent waymarking system for three routes in and around Bahlburg, with signposts towards Pattensen and Scharmbeck, plus refurbished benches and new places to sit. In the ranking of August 2024 it came fifth of six projects.

    The plan states the aim as „safe and shorter paths away from the main road between the central places in Bahlburg“. That is precisely what a path from the Lassbruch housing development towards the village would achieve.

    As far as I can tell, this path is not yet part of the circular routes. I am checking that and, if it holds, will put it forward for the next revision.
